Amanda Gernentz Hanson
I am so excited to introduce the lovely Amanda Gernentz Hanson to you this month. I've been fortunate to work closely with Amanda over the last two years. She never ceases to amaze me with her dedication to supporting indie authors, female writers, and diverse books.
If you want to read more about Amanda's passion for expanding your reading, check out the interview I did with her for my Women Who Rock series!
In this interview, I was able to sit down (virtually) with Amanda and talk about how to get over you fear of approaching diverse characters, how to write characters that might be out of your comfort zone, doing appropriate research, finding inspiration, and representing your audience.
Amanda is the author of Something Beautiful, a unique story of deep friendship, love, and tragedy. The cast features a sexually fluid character, and, we saw some backlash in her GoodReads reviews over this. Amanda will also be talking about how to approach negative comments, how to keep going when you feel attacked, and how to hear the concerns of your audience and understand if they're valid or reaching.
You can follow Amanda on social media and her blogging exploits as an avid reader, marathon runner, author, dog mom, and now, an FBI trainee, on her blog: https://amandagernentzhanson.com/ or on Twitter: https://twitter.com/amandamariegh.
In this chat, we mention Trisha Tobias and her amazing editorial work. You can hire Trisha here: https://trishatobiaseditorial.wordpress.com/. Make sure to let her know Amanda and Dionne sent you over!
